Steel has come a long way since the 80’s and we believe it is still the best material for a bicycle.
Premium double and triple butted 4130 steel alloy gives a fantastic ride quality. The weight penalty is small and the benefits are vast. Steel is wildly customizable to ensure personalized fit and optimized geometry to tuning stiffness and compliance where you need it most.
We believe bicycles should be built to last. Steel bicycles are a lifetime bicycle, still rideable in decades to come and the frames are often easily repairable and modifiable.

An Afternoon with Six Mile Bicycles
Located a few minutes north of Nelson, British Columbia, Six Mile Bikes is a new framebuilder offering made-to-order bikes with a refreshingly personal approach inspired by a career as a ski guide. We stopped by the shop to get to know owner Kevin Armstrong, hear about the framebuilding course he took in Spain, and take a closer look at a handful of bikes he’s made…

The Six Mile Bikes shop is located on Lower 6 Mile Rd just outside Nelson, BC. We work, raise our family and recreate in a beautiful location in southern BC. The bikes we build here are tested on winding mountain passes, rough forest service roads and some of the gnarliest single track around.
